Estate and Private Region Price Increase FAQ
Where can I read the original announcement for the price increase?
On the Linden Lab blog, under this October 29, 2006 post. The updated announcement is at this November 1, 2006 post.
What are the new prices?
- USD$1675.00 setup fee
- USD$295.00 per month thereafter
Does this new pricing also apply to new Openspace orders?
Yes, it does.
When does the price increase for new orders take effect?
All
orders received after November 15th 2006 will be at the new price. The
Land Store will be turned off at midnight on the 15th of November 2006
and prices changed from that point on.
What class are these "old price" Estates?
They are at least class 4 machines.
Where is the Land Store?
You can find a link to the Land Store here: http://secondlife.com/community/land-islands.php
I placed my order for a new Estate before November 15th 2006. Will I be charged the new price?
No. You will be charged the old price of USD$1250.00 setup and USD$195 per month.
Is there a limit to how many new Estates I can order?
No. Any orders received through the Land Store until November 15th 2006 will be honored at the lower price.
The Land Store doesn't allow me to pick the grid position I need; what do I do?
Just find a space that it will allow you to use. Then, after placing the order, submit a support ticket of the Region Issues type with the following information:
- Your real name
- Second Life name
- The Estate name
- Your order number
- An explanation of where you need your Estate to be placed
We'll try to make sure it gets placed correctly on delivery.
I'm an educator; how does this effect me?
Pricing for qualified
educators is not changing at this time, and so will remain at USD$980
setup and USD$150 per month. Any change to Educator pricing will be
announced through the Official Linden Blog.
If I transfer an island, does it keep the same monthly fee it had?
For
island transfers within the next three months, we will honor the
original monthly fee, so that if it is being billed at USD$195 per
month, it will remain at USD$195 for the new owner after being
transferred. This policy will be reviewed on February 1st 2007, after
which we may decide that subsequent transfers will move to the new
pricing for the new owner.
What constitutes a transfer?
By transfer we mean any change to either the payor or owner of the Region.
I pay USD$195 per month for my island now; will I have to pay the higher monthly fees at some point?
Any
islands charged at USD$195 now or on delivery and continue to be owned
by the same person will remain at that rate through 2007 at least.
If I have further questions on this, who do I ask?
Submit a support ticket of the Region Issues type on the secondlife.com support site.
