How do I sell land

This article explains the mechanics of selling land inworld -- how to set your land for sale safely.

Note: This article won't tell you: How to advertise your land The best way to sell your land These are things that can be done in a variety of different ways, and we don't want to bias you one way or another.

To set a parcel of your land for sale:

1. Make sure you own the land you're about to sell. You won't be able to sell land if it's not yours.
   
2. Right-click the parcel you're going to sell and select About Land.
   
   
   The About Land window opens.
   
   
3. In the General tab of the About land window, click Sell Land.
   
   
   The Sell Land window opens.
   
   
4. At this point you have some choices to make:
   • Set a price: Determine a price at which to sell the land.
   • Sell the land to: Specify whether you want to sell the land to anyone, or to a particular Resident.

   Warning: If you want to sell this parcel to a particular Resident, make sure you adjust this setting properly! Some Residents are capable of detecting and buying underpriced land almost as soon as it becomes publicly available

• Sell the objects with the land? Any objects that are on the parcel and are transferable will change ownership to the land's buyer. You can click Show Objects to highlight the objects that will change owners once the land is sold.
  
5. When you've set all the fields, click Set Land For Sale.

Your parcel is now for sale. It will appear automatically in the listings in the Search window's Land Sales tab, unless you set the land for sale to a particular Resident (in which case it won't).

Additional Information: Selling Land to A Specific Resident

In situations where you wish to sell your land to a specific Resident, it is very important that you take advantage of the Sell the land to setting.  Some Residents have the ability to quickly detect and buy land for sale at below market prices- selling your land to a specific Resident prevents any chance of someone else accidentally buying the land.

1. Right-click the land and select About Land.
2. Click the General tab
3. Click the Sell Land button.
4. Set Set your desired sale price.
5. For the Sell the land to option, choose Specific user.
6. Click the Select button.
7. Enter the buyer's name into the Choose Resident window.
   
   
   
8. Click the Find button and select the buyer's name.
9. Click the Select button.
10. Click the Set Land For Sale button.
